What is Time Line Therapy®?

The Map Is Not The Territory

Time Line Therapy® Techniques were introduced the very first time in his book Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality by Dr. Everett Tad James published in 1988. There is a well-deserved excitement about these techniques in the psychotherapeutic community and a rapid adoption of the process by students of  Tad James, -founder of the techniques- for many good reasons.

In the last few years, Tad James’ trained professionals in Time Line Therapy® Techniques assisted many clients to create seemingly miraculous changes; changes that extend to the deepest levels of personality. Loves and hates, happiness and sorrow, limiting and empowering believes are parts of every person time line. This time line is a major part of our personality.

Time Line Therapy® Techniques are changing the deepest parts of one’s personality aligned with their health, wealth, and happiness.

People interested in Psychology have been searching for a way to adequately describe the human experience of time. Time Line Therapy® holds the potential to make sense out of our temporal experience and to change our understanding of how negative emotions and limiting decisions affect us.

Time Line Therapy® is a model. In this context, a model describes a system that simulates something that works. In simple words, a model is a blueprint or a map. Time Line Therapy® as a model represents reality and it is not necessary “true”. Like a map, it describes the territory and its value lies in the results it creates when used.

Time Line Therapy® Is Permanent

It is safe, easy, and reliable only when it is performed by a designated Time Line Therapy® practitioner, master practitioner, or trainer.

It will last when it is done by a professionally trained practitioner. Once, you have released your negative emotions, your practitioner will carefully test past experiences. The process will ensure that you released all your negative emotions on past events permanently.

Thinking about past events when you used to feel those old emotions and now you cannot. Just imagine how this process will provide you with an undeniable and profound experience.

Your Time Line is how your unconscious mind encodes and stores your memories. You might have a recollection that you have a time line, or you might not. Regardless, it is a mental construct. Since our mind doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined, the work we do with active imagination becomes real.

How We Represent Time

Aristotle was one of the first in our culture to mention the idea of a time line in Physics IV. How we structure our language, at least in part, contributes to our having a time line.

”Western minds represent time as a straight line upon which we stand with our gaze directed forward; before us we have the future and behind us the past. On this line we can unequivocally define all tenses by means of points. The present is the point on which we are standing , the future is found on some point in front of us, and in between lies the exact future; behind us lies the perfect, still farther back the imperfect, and farther yet the pluperfect. […] The Greek language also has corresponding verb-forms which can be delineated in quite similar manner on a straight time-line. […] According to Aristotle, therefore, we must represent time by the image of a line (more accurately: by the image of movement along a line), either a circular line … or a straight line.” ~[Hebrew, pp 124-6]
